FAQ: how do I report inappropriate content?

[ Edited ]

This is what to do if you've just spotted something that you think many forums users would find offensive.

Before explaining the process, here's a word of warning. "Inappropriate content" is not a very precise term, but we've provided an outline in the SophosFreeTalk terms and conditions. Please don't flag something as inappropriate just because you strongly disagree with the opinions expressed in someone's posting. The process described below is not a censorship tool.

This is what you do. Each post has a click point like this:

Report Inappropriate Content

If you spot a post that you want to bring to a moderator's attention, click on this. The SophosFreeTalk community moderators will be alerted and appropriate action will be taken. Please note that the moderators will try to avoid deleting anyone's posts, but will do so if they agree that the content has no place in the SophosFreeTalk community.

Over and above removing offensive posts, moderators can also issue warnings, suspend users from the community, or issue outright bans. The moderators' decisions are final.

Please also be aware that the moderators can take action against any community member who abuses the inappropriate content process itself.
