Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition

I want to install the latest version of SAV. When I try to install it though, I get this message

Sophos Anti-Virus can’t be installed on this computer.

Another version of Sophos anti-virus software, which is not compatible with this version, is already installed. You must remove that version before attempting installation again.

I cannot find the Remove Sophos Anti-Virus package in my application folders as others have suggested, nor is it in the library. I see it in my Settings Preferences, but I can't delete it from there.

The version came with my iMac, I've had it since 2006, so it hasn't been updated in a long time.

How can I uninstall my current version so I can install the latest.

You can't install the Home edition on a computer that already has the Enterprise version installed.

If the "Remove Sophos Anti-Virus" app is not in your Library folder (or, since it's from 2006, you're likely using SAV 4, not SAV 7), you'll need to download the demo version of SAV 7 Enterprise off the website as indicated in that thread, install that, and then run the uninstaller.

You want Option 2: SAV 7.  You may have to get temporary credentials from http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-trials/endpoint-protection.aspx in order to get it to install (in order to uninstall).

Hi Andrew,

I downloaded SAV 7 (second one on the list: SUM 2.5) and installed it. There is now a Sophos Update Manager file in my Applications list but there is nowhere that I can see to uninstall it (there is no separate uninstall icon in the Applications list or in the Library/Application Support). I even tried opening the package for the Sophos Update Manager, but there is no uninstall icon there either. What do I do next to fix this problem?

Sorry... I must have been unclear.  You don't want the second link, you want the second option... listed as Option 2.  The first item in that list is SAV 7, which has what you need.

I'm not sure if this will install over what you installed... but there should definitely be an uninstaller somewhere for SAV and SUM.

One bonus is that since you've installed a trial version, you can contact our technical support directly and have them help you through the uninstall process!

when i try to run the pkg it tells me i already have sophos and i must try to remove it. i have looked through the library and cannot find sophos. i have tried deleting it and the icon and program remains. i try spotlighting it, and sophos will not show! 

why did you make this so hard?! why can you not just provide us an uninstaller which we may download?
