Disable on-access scanning via the Sophos icon in the Menubar?

At the moment, to disable on-access scanning takes a very long time - open preferences in Sophos, type in password, disable.

Can you guys make it so that you just press a button in the drop down menu of the Menubar icon?

I am used to ClamXav Sentry having a convenient "Stop Watching" entry.

A menu option to disable on-access scanning would be appreciated.

I understand that admin credentials may be required for options such as this. Ideally:

  • require authentication to disable on-access scanning
  • allow any user without authentication to enable on-access scanning.

This is deperately needed, in addition to SAV being modified to automatically SUSPEND real-time funtions during permissions repair or time machine operations, which *may* be linked to people having issues with lockups/freezing(unresponsive systems) as described in other threads....
