Install problem - Sophos 7.3.8C quit unexpectedly on OSX10.6.8

Hi,

 

I've just downloaded Sophos 7.3.8C and installed in on a Mac OSX10.6.8.  The installation stated it was successful and the black shield appeared.  However, Sophos 'quits unexpectedly' when I try to i) Open Preferences, or ii) Scan local drive.  I uninstalled and then re-installed in case this was an issue but the problem remained.  Please can someone advise what the issue might be and what I can do about it?

The first thing I always suspect when something fails to run/access correctly is corrupted permissions.  Run Disk Utility and do a permissions scan to see if this is a problem for you.

 

You may also want to try running it using an administrator account if this is happening on a user account, just to see if it's access-permissions related.
