New user with questions

Hi,

New users here, trying your product.  Downloaded it, ran a scan....so far so good.

Question:  So I was looking for a menu to set scans, you know, daily, weekly etc.  Could not find such a menu.  Also, when does the product get updated and can you set that?  Is it daily, weekly or when new alerts come out?

BTW, MacBook 15" Pro, Snow Leopard 10.6.

Thanks.

Re: New user with questions

Hello preetcher,

the scan menu (where you can configure scans and set schedules) should be accessible by clicking the Dock icon (there you can also select Show status in menu bar - on by default). The status icon or the Sophos Anti-Virus menu lets you access other Preferences. AutoUpdate by default checks for new updates (including software updates) every hour (detection updates are usually issued several times a day) and if there are downloads and installs them. Unless you have a good reason to change it you should leave the interval as it is.

Please note that unless you have on-access scanning turned off or items excluded there is no need for frequent scheduled scans.

Hi preetcher,

When you have the Sophos Anti-Virus window open, look in the bottom left of the window for the text "Custom Scans". There is a "tippy triangle" next to it that will open up a place to add custom scans. There is a "plus sign" button at the bottom; press it to add your own custom scans and set your own schedule.
