Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition

On-access Scanning > Excluded Items does not seem to work.

I am using Sophos 8.0.2C on an iMac running 10.7.4

When On-access Scanning is OFF, the NeoOffice app takes 8 seconds to load.

When On-access Scanning is ON, NeoOffice takes 2 minutes and 27 seconds to load.
I have added NeoOffice to the Excluded Items list but that did not change anything. NeoOffice still takes 2:27 to load.
Is there something else I can do to make the load time acceptable and still have On-Access Scanning running?

I believe we've already got a thread on here regarding NeoOffice...

Excluding NeoOffice.app in the Applications folder is not what you'll need to do.

The NeoOffice installer isntalls software in a number of locations, and loads a number of Java files from those locations on launch.

Does the loading speed up if you disable archive scanning?

Use the search function on these forums to search for NeoOffice to find more details.

Disabling  archive scanning in On-access Scanning > Options solved my problem with NeoOffice.  It would have been nice if I had thought to search for NeoOffice, but I was searching under On-access Scanning and Excluded Items.  And, shame on me for changing the default settings.

FYI, I teach a beginners class for Mac users at our computer club.  Since Sophos is so easy to install and use, I will be recommending Sophos and demonstrating how to download and install it.  I will tell them to leave the default settings alone!
