Installed the new Sophos AV for Mac 8.0.1C on Lion (10.7.3). Have not been able to complete a scan successfully. A component is crashing every time, there are crash logs for SophosAVAgent.

I'd suggest starting by running disk utility, scanning your hard drive for errors and repairing disk permissions. You may also want to disable scanning inside archives from the preferences, and disconnecting external drives and network shares. Does this help?
