Hi again DrM
The same thing happened here. On reading your difficultiess I searched for the plug-in and couldn't find it yesterday even though I had looked in all the Libraries as well as doing a name search. Today, after the Mac had snoozed all night, there it is, exactly where it should be.
In my situation I think it's because I reinstalled Sophos yesterday and often the Finder takes a while to register changes, especially if disks are set to sleep when not active.

Thank you both for your replies. I cannot say for sure what has happened, but today it is working just fine, i.e., when I drop down a menu on a file "Scan with Sophos" is right there. I did (after the fact) finally locate and confirm the plug-in was in fact there - the correct library, thank you Andrew -And I did check that the Sophos box was checked in the keyboard shortcuts. In the final analysis, a day after my previous messages and after the computer being shut down, it is working. So thanks guys, and thanks to whatever magic occurs in dreamtime...

I think I may just have thought of what's happening here.
When Auto-Update does an actual product update (not just a detection update) that replaces the plugin, the old architecture is torn down and the files replaced with the new versions. The result of this is that until you log out and back in after an update, contextual scanning will not be available.
Does this fit with what people are seeing?
