the initial scan might take that long and even longer (it scans inside archives and compressed files) so 14 hours are not abnormal. An AutoUpdate - even when it's installing a new version - should not take 3 hours though (well, except on a 56k modem). Does an update still take that long (you should find detailed information about what it's doing in the log)?
