Hello.
Using the quarantine manager, I'm trying to clean up manually. I'm following instructions offered here http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/articl
Looking ahead down the list, I see it says to select 'delete threat' in the Options tab? WHAT Options tab? Where?
I love computers.

In the main scan window (where it says "Scan local drives") you'll see a > at the bottom left of the page next to "Custom Scans". Click it, then click the + at the bottom of the page. You should be able to follow the rest.

I also tried a manual clean up. I was able to find custom scan, but when I clicked on it the box was empty. What next?
Thank you.

Clicking the +, and selecting the disk/folder you want to scan. Then setting your preferences to delete instead of clean up -- this will always delete files flagged as detected, instead of attempting to remove viral entities from otherwise clean files.

I copied the path but it won't scan because there is a "/". What should I type in? the malware is in this file and path: Users/susanbrand/.Trash
thanks

In the Open dialog, press command-shift-. (that's a period). This will show you all files and folders, including hidden ones, such as .Trash
However, the .Trash folder is where stuff goes that's been thrown in the trash can. So, instead of creating a custom scan, I'd suggest temporarily disabling on-access scanning and emptying the trash. Then re-enable on-access scanning. As the item was already in the trash can, it will be erased.
